The Training You’ve Been Waiting For

Training in Hawai’i sounds great, doesn’t it? But what are you really going to get out of it?

Maybe taking a peek at the letter I received last week from one of our past Trainees will help to answer that question. Jaime Lammering flew from St Croix in the Virgin Islands to take our Mindful Movement Instructor Level 1 training this January.

Getting a letter like the one below lets me know how valuable this training really is… to teachers and coaches from all movement practices upgrading their skills. I hope you’re one of them soon!

Good morning, Renée,

Thank you again for the most amazing opportunity and an incredible experience of Mindful Movement training at Still & Moving Center in Honolulu. I truly can’t thank you enough. The entire team! You all did so much for us and put in lots of work.

As for the mindful movement techniques I learned: Back at home, I have been consistent with “setting” my Intention and Body Anchor, “supporting” it through the lesson and closing with my Intention/ Body Anchor. Threading the continuity of consciousness from the beginning to the end of the session. For me and my classes, the Intention and Body Anchor is key for me every time!!

After class the other day I had two students tell me they couldn’t wait to come back and that they realized with my Intention they wouldn’t further injure themselves in the future.

I constantly ask my movers to explore their Safe Edge, for example, asking them, “How low can you drop safely?”, etc. I ask the movers to ask themselves those questions as we go through the strength exercises. It’s pretty cool when my movers have those Ah-hah moments.  I’ve been seeing it so much, and it is so rewarding.

And the other thing I have loved much more is spontaneous cuing. “Sennnsing” our body sensations. I do this from the beginning to the end: warm up, exercise, to cool down. And always the closing. I sit with them, ask questions, always inviting them back at the end of class. This is something I had always done before but now “expanded” this closing with Opportunity to Process.

I have also subbed for Stacey’s ELDOA classes, and have been able to incorporate even more mindful movement into these classes. Imagery, cueing, “Ahh that feels good” moments and more – I realize this is a little bit easier to weave into the class without even thinking of it.

Now the studio owner just asked if I would teach Pilates reformers, based on what she has heard about my classes, my background, and teaching style. One thing I know and am proud of: I have made my movers feel Joy and safety in my classes. I am humbled by the feedback I have gotten and the compliments I have received. And this is from all of you teaching us through the Academy, too. Thank you!!!

The other day in my class, I had a mover state to me their concern about another teacher and how she was treated in that class. She did not feel as safe as she feels in my classes, and she mentioned that the other teacher labeled her as the “one with all the questions”. That did not sit well with me. The Academy of Mindful Movement really taught mindfulness. We focus on being non-judgmental!! Being Aware! I said to myself, “That teacher needs to go through the Academy!”  🙂  This training plays a role in how much we affect our movers with ALL of the Academy standards.

I can’t express how much gratitude I have for you, Renée. Your training gave me an incredible opportunity and helped me so much. I still do not know how to say thank you. You, the studio, the people I met and connected with…. CONGRATULATIONS ON ALL YOU HAVE DONE!!!!

Jamie Lammering, Academy of Mindful Movement Instructor Level 1 Graduate

The same in-person training that Jamie took in January at the beautiful Still & Moving Center in Honolulu, you can take in June 2026. And for those of you living off-island yet unable to fly over, we are opening an online version so that you can participate with us from home for a week.
